Dave and Kevin were asked to referee at a senior high event called Sunday Night Lights which was organized by the senior-high staff from New Pointe Community Church. The event took place at New Phila's Quaker Stadium. I thought it would be nice for Dave, Kevin and me to serve together as a family, so I volunteered too. Like everything else that New Pointe does, the event was first class. A great Christian rock band call Third From First played. I worked with other volunteers at the concession stand beside the band. As a result, I had a clear view of the crowd of kids as they gathered around the stage at the start of the event. The band began to play. Although it was cold, I got chills of a different kind when I looked out at the faces in the crowd. It was exciting to be part of such a fine, God-centered, Christian event. After the band played a few songs, the kids played flag football. The band played about five different sets during the entire event which lasted a couple of hours. Sunday Night Lights did not disappoint. It was an excellent event for the high school kids. In addition, it was a great serving opportunity just as I hoped it would be.
